Since its establishment as a specialist national statistical agency in 1949 the Central Statistics Office, Ireland has pursued the same mandate, as set out in the Statistics Act 1993: "The collection, compilation, extraction and dissemination for statistical purposes of information relating to economic, social and general activities and conditions in the State"

IPUMS-International is a global collaboratory of university researchers and national statistical offices.  Our goals are to preserve, harmonize, and disseminate census data and documentation to qualified researchers world-wide, free of charge.  The database currently contains data from 55 countries with 159 census samples and over 326 million person records available. 

The International Statistical Institute (ISI) is one of the oldest (est. 1885) scientific associations unmatched in its global reach among statisticians and those interested in the field of statistics.

The WSC 2011 Dublin is the 58^th World Statistics Congress of the ISI. The seven ISI Sections connect statisticians in areas of environmetrics, official statistics, business statistics, survey statistics, statistical computing, mathematical statistics and probability and statistics educations. The Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) is a research centre at the University of Oxford working to improve poverty data and measurement. OPHI has created five internationally comparable survey modules on the ‘missing dimensions’ of poverty for use by statisticians.
